Solar Pool Heating Systems

  • Harness solar energy to keep your pool warm year-round with low operating costs.
  • Innovative components designed for maximum efficiency and reliability.
  • Eco-friendly alternative to gas and heat pump pool heaters.
  • This is how solar pool heating works

Our state of the art solar pool heating systems include the following components that amplify benefits such as cost and energy savings.

    • Solar Collector: this is a device that circulates pool water that is heated by the sun.
    • Filter: this effectively removes debris from the pool water before it's pumped through the solar collector.
    • Pump: This important function circulates water through the filter and collector before returning it back to the pool.
    • Flow Control Valve: This device can be automatic or manual, and is essential for diverting pool water through the solar collector.

For the heating magic to happen, the solar collector surface area must be between 60% and 100% of the surface area of the pool.

This is dependent upon factors such as the climate and the months when pool use is most prevelant. The pool is the storage tank, with the pool's filtration pump circulating the water through the collectors to warm it up.

An unglazed flat plate collector is often utilized, including a pool cover or blanket to prevent heat loss and help maintain warm pool temperatures for an extended period.

How can solar pool heating benefit you?

Solar pool heaters can be much more cost effective when compared to both gas and heat pump pool heaters due to extremely low annual operating costs. And, when you choose solar energy, you’re taking a step towards reducing the carbon footprint in your home by depending on clean energy from the sun instead of fossil fuels.

    Frequently Asked Questions

If you are new to solar, you might have questions. That's where we come in. We don't just provide the service- we offer around-the-clock support so you are always well-informed.
Is a solar pool heater a viable option over a heat pump or gas heater?
The initial cost of a solar pool heater is similar to that of a quality electric heat pump or gas heater, and often less costly if you need new electrical circuits or gas storage. Solar pool heaters will operate for 10-20 years with no additional operational costs, unlike heat pumps and gas heaters that require costly electricity or fuel. Heat pumps and gas heaters are likely to need replacement at least twice in the lifespan of one solar pool heater, and require maintenance.
In simple terms, how does a solar pool heater work?
Swimming Pool Solar Heater works by using the existing pump that circulates water through your filter, pool water is diverted so that it flows through the many small tubes of the solar panel. While passing through the solar collector, water is warmed by the sun, before returning directly back into the pool. When your pool has reached your desired comfort level, the solar collectors are bypassed and pool water is circulated as usual.
How automatic is a solar pool heater?
Completely. All you do is set your pool pump’s time clock or automation system to run during the daylight hours, then set the solar pool heater’s automatic control temperature indicator to your preferred temperature. The control system takes care of the rest. Sensors compare the temperature at the solar collectors with you pool water temperature. Whenever the solar collector temperature is warmer than your pool water, the control system adjusts a motorized valve to divert pool water through the solar collector panels if your pool is not at the desired temperature.
